Hidden away and forgotten in old barns and sheds are rusting objects and artifacts from the sharecropping era. The single tree yoke, wooden center and metal hooks was attached to a mule or horse to a wagon or plow. The front end of the tong or trace chains and connect to the animals harness at the shoulders. The Sears catalog offered a similar type yoke as early as 1902.
Many broken farm implements were modified or creolized and used for some practical reason other than it's intended use. |
