| Provenance |
The water cooler was usually a communal source of hydration, used by landowner and sharecropper alike. This early type of water cooler held much favored ice water during the long hot summer days of Louisiana. During water breaks, water "boys and girls" (too young to hoe or pick cotton) would bring out cold drinks of water in the dipper to the field workers. |
